BIOGRAPHY

Matthew Chastney is an Ivor Novello award-nominated composer and producer. A unique collision of emotive string quartet & piano writing, atmospheric electronic production and innovative sound design forms a style inspired by indie classical, ambient and contemporary electronic music.

In 2023 the score for the video game “Tin Hearts” was released to critical acclaim. Other soundtrack credits include trailers for ‘Inside Out 2’, ‘Chernobyl’, ‘Bridgerton’, and original scores for ‘Black Fish’ and ‘Through a Screen Darkly’; two short films that were featured as part of the BBC New Creatives programme.

“Just stunning…a name to be listening out for”BBC Introducing

“The biggest star of the show for us, however, is the music. It’s simply wonderful. Focusing on gentle piano tunes and whimsical melodies, the soundtrack is perfectly suited to this kind of game, and it makes the emotional beats of the story hit that much harder. We can’t fault it, quite frankly.”Nintendo Life review of “Tin Hearts”

“One of the most beautiful scores written for a video game”GodIsAGeek.com review of “Tin Hearts”

“The classical score, one of the best I’ve heard in a while, helps to make you care … and believe that toys are magical.”The Daily Mail review of “Tin Hearts”

“The minimal and at times whispered vocals function as an instrument in their own right and provide as much colour and depth as the emotive strings. There’s a feel of Ludovico Einaudi about ‘Tarka’, but it paints a much broader canvas both sonically and emotionally.”AnalogueTrash.com
